A salon built on community
OUR STORY
Proud to call Fort Myers Shores home
After the September 11 tragedy, our owner Celeste did what a lot of people did; she took a hard look at her life and decided to stop waiting. She had spent years working behind the chair at other salons, building her skills, earning loyal clients, and quietly knowing she was ready for something more. The events of that fall made the decision for her.
She opened SunStreaks that year, right here in the community she had lived in her whole life. Fort Myers was home, and she wanted to build something that felt like it.
More than 25 years later, she's still here. Still behind the chair and setting the standard for the services and expertise we deliver every single day.
OUR CRAFT
We are a full-service salon with a tight-knit team of hair color specialists, precision cut experts, nail technicians, and licensed estheticians. Every member of the SunStreaks team shares the same values Celeste put in place: honesty, skill, and genuine care for our clients and community.
Our stylists and specialists aren't coasting on experience. We are constantly developing, learning new techniques, and raising the bar. Celeste invests in continuing education for her entire team and we all look forward to attending industry trade shows regularly.
That investment shows up in your appointment. When you sit in our chair, you're getting someone who knows not just what's worked for the last decade, but what's working right now.

It depends on the type of color used.
Temporary color lasts 1–2 shampoos
Semi-permanent lasts 4–6 shampoos
Permanent color grows out rather than fades
Most clients touch up their roots every 3–6 weeks depending on how quickly their hair grows.
-
For most hair types, every 3 days is ideal. If you have an oily scalp or a physically active job, every other day works well. For long or curly hair, 5–7 days between washes is actually better for maintaining moisture and curl definition.
-
Sulfates are the ingredient that creates lather in shampoo. They are effective cleansers but have a stripping effect on the hair.
If you use a lot of styling product, sulfates help remove buildup. But if your color is fading quickly, or you've had a keratin treatment, sulfate-free is the way to go.
One thing worth knowing: conditioners don't contain sulfates—only shampoo.
-
A partial highlight lightens the area covered by a baseball cap, typically the top and front sections of the hair. A full highlight covers the entire head from the front hairline to the nape of the neck for a more complete, all-over lightened look.
-
Start with your hair type: curly, fine, frizzy, color-treated, etc. and choose a product formulated for that.
We carry a variety of professional options and our staff is always happy to point you in the right direction.

Honestly, yes. But heat tools, tight ponytails, and chemical services all cause some level of damage. Bleach is slightly more damaging than traditional color, but the bigger factor is frequency. Bleaching or making dramatic color changes too often is what causes the most significant damage over time. Done thoughtfully and with proper care, it's very manageable.
